F2L is the first main step in the CFOP method. This will consist of making a corner edge pair to insert in the spaces between the cross as illustrated by the picture on the left. We will have to make 4 pairs. The 4 steps of solving 1 of these pairs is to find the 2 pieces, break them apart, form the pair and insert the pair. There are 2 ways to perform F2L. Intuitively, (the faster and better way) and by algorithms (the slower but easier) way. Below is 1 video on F2l intuitively. For algorithms check out the link at the bottom of the page.
This link will bring you to a list of intuitive F2L algorithms. http://badmephisto.com/badmephisto-speedcubing-method.pdf This link uses the same notation used in the basic beginner's method tutorial. However you might see x, x-inverted, y, y-inverted, z, and z-inverted. X means to turn the cube so the down side faces you. Y means to turn the cube so the right side faces you, and Z means to turn the side facing you 90 degrees clockwise. Inverted means to turn it the opposite way, or up, left, or 90 degrees counterclockwise.
